Spiral duct equipment manufacturer Lindab Inc. will host students at its Portsmouth, Va., facility Oct. 4 as part of Manufacturing Day.
Organized by Ed Youdell, president and CEO of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, the event, which features events across the country, will showcase the importance of manufacturing to the U.S. and worldwide workforce and economy.
Lindab will take local students through its ventilation production factory.
Lindab Vice President Ryan Johnson said the goal is to dispel myths about manufacturing among students and teachers.
“It’s imperative for students to understand the opportunities that exist in manufacturing plants today,” he said. “For example (at Lindab), we employ skilled mechanics, welders, drafters, material handlers… I mean the list goes on. Parents should encourage kids to enter manufacturing and workers should be proud to be a part of a vital economic sector.”
