More than 81,000 square feet of sustainable metal roof and wall panels brought the snow removal equipment building at Spokane International Airport in Spokane, Wash., LEED-gold certification.
The design team had four goals in mind when designing the facility: meet current Federal Aviation Administration airfield snow and ice clearance requirements; provide storage and maintenance space for new snow removal equipment; achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification; and use products that will withstand the Spokane weather conditions for several decades. To achieve these goals, the team chose to use metal roof and wall panels from Metal Sales.
“The snow removal equipment facility required products that are sustainable, aesthetically appealing, durable and have a long lifecycle,” said Jim Cortner, a principal at Cortner Architectural Co. “We’ve worked with Metal Sales on past projects and know they offer wall and roof panels that fulfill these requirements.”
Outfitting the facility is more than 56,000 square feet of Metal Sales’ 16-inch Magna-Loc standing seam roof panels in dark bronze, 18,400 square feet of IC72 wall panels in slate grey and khaki, and 6,300 square feet of soffit panels in dark bronze.
They were installed by Krueger Sheet Metal of Spokane, Wash.
“Metal Sales provides the support we need, works with quality installers and provides a quality product, so I know they’re a company we can trust,” Cortner said. “The snow-removal equipment facility is another successful project with Metal Sales.”
