Seeing that the number one repair item for angle grinders is the constant replacement of the brush, DEWALT’s move towards brushless motors is smart for the company and its consumers. “This allows for less downtime and need for repairs,” explains Nate Pellerin, product manager for DEWALT, which released a line of five new brushless corded grinders this month. “This is the first family of corded grinders that DEWALT makes. We do however offer brushed and brushless units in both corded and cordless models.”
The new line includes:
- 5” Brushless Paddle Switch Small Angle Grinder
- 5” Brushless Small Angle Grinder
- 5”/ 6” Brushless Small Angle Grinder
- 6” Brushless High Performance Paddle Switch Grinder
- 7” Brushless Small Angle Grinder
But its DEWALT’s E-Clutch System and kickback brake safety features that steal the show. On the Slide Switch Small Angle Grinder, the E-Clutch System and Kickback Brake work hand-in-hand to automatically stop the grinder and shut it down whenever a pinch or stall is detected. This model also comes with two removable mesh screens that aide in blocking debris from entering the grinder during use.
“A number of the products in this program have come from user requests, where the user has an issue on their job site and wants us to help find a solution to complete the application while offering a better level of dust containment, control, or lessened vibration,” says Pellerin, explaining that it took nearly five years to complete the testing of the grinders. But he assures the tools are worth the wait. “Through the use of our Perform and Protect program, DEWALT offers tools with user protection features that also provide the performance needed to do the job.”
