The AHRI released its latest figures on HVAC equipment shipments.
June was a slightly lower month overall for HVAC equipment shipments, according to figures released by the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute.
Combined U.S. factory shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat
pumps for June totaled 937,093, down 1 percent compared with the same month a
year ago. For the year-to-date, combined shipments totaled 3,342,265, a 7.1
percent drop compared with the same period last year
The case was different for heat pumps. Heat pump shipments for
June totaled 265,347, up 8.5 percent from the same month a year ago. For the
year-to-date, heat pump shipments totaled 1,033,769, a 2.2 percent drop compared
with the same period last year.
Demand for warm-air furnaces dropped. U.S. factory shipments of gas warm-air furnaces in June totaled 232,974, a 16
percent drop compared with the same month a year ago. Oil warm-air furnaces for
the same month totaled 4,238, a 28 percent drop compared with June 2007 totals.
For the year-to-date, gas furnace shipments totaled 1 million, an 18 percent
drop compared with the same period last year. Oil furnace shipments for the
year-to-date totaled 23,546, a 26 percent drop compared with the same period
last year.
