Unico will be part of a May 15ceremony
celebrating Truman’s 125th birthday in Key West, Fla.
Former President Harry S. Truman’s favorite winter
retreat in Key West, Fla., will be rededicated at a May 15 ceremony celebrating
Truman’s 125th birthday.
Among those scheduled to be on hand, in addition to
Truman’s grandson, will be officials from Unico Inc., whose small-duct,
high-velocity HVAC system was installed as part of a restoration project at the
120-year-old, 9,000-square-foot property unofficially known as the “Little
White House.”
Previous HVAC systems at the house had failed to
perform effectively in the hot, humid year-round temperatures of the Florida
Keys. Inability to control humidity and temperatures endangered the original
furnishings and documents stored at the Little White House, which once served
as a command headquarters for the U.S. Navy.
The Unico System, which was small enough to be
installed without affecting the structure’s architectural integrity, was just
what the Little White House needed, said Bob Wolz, the home’s executive
director.
“I was already familiar with the Unico System and knew it
was exactly what we needed to install at Truman House,” Wolz said. “We are
extremely pleased with the system and have had numerous visitors ask for more
information about how the system works.”
A south Florida Unico sales representative will be answering
questions about the HVAC installation as part of the rededication ceremony.
