Due to the success of its spring
residential rebate program, Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 36 and the St. Louis chapter of the
Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association will to
re-introduce the program for fall furnace and air-conditioning service and
replacement.
The series of rebates are available now through
September 30 for consumers looking to service their air conditioner or furnace
and for those installing a new energy efficient residential air conditioner or
furnace.
“The program proved to be an overwhelming success
this spring with hundreds of homeowners updating and replacing their cooling
systems,” said Butch Welsch, chairman of SMACNA’s labor committee and president
of St. Louis-based Welsch Heating and Cooling.
“We felt that with the cool weather season fast approaching and many
people looking to service their furnace there was no reason not to bring the
program back.”
Homeowners can receive a rebate of $25 if
they sign up for an annual maintenance agreement. The agreement includes two
service appointments. A rebate of $125 is available to any homeowner who has a
furnace or air conditioner replaced. The rebates will be given for a maximum of
two units per residential address.
Additionally, Local 36 is
reminding customers that anyone who installs certain high efficiency air
conditioning and furnace systems in 2009 will still be eligible for a tax
credit.
“The decision to bring back the program for the fall
was an easy one,” said Local 36 President and Business Manager David C.
Zimmermann. “The program provides
homeowners with financial incentives and also gives them a chance to become
more efficient while creating business for Local 36 and our contractors.”
