CertainTeed Corp. introduced its Quick
Response code mobile smart phone app to help contractors get product
information.
According to CertainTeed, the app instantly
scans and reads a barcode, called a 2D QR code, when a user points a QR-enabled
phone's camera at the code. Upon recognition of a QR code, the app rapidly
processes and decodes the image, allowing users to view web sites, videos and
technical documentation. Users can send text messages, make phone calls, and
save contact information without leaving the application.
“Providing
innovative, eco-friendly solutions that improve efficiency is not just our
business, it’s our responsibility,” said Eric Nilsson, vice president of
corporate marketing at CertainTeed Corp. “Looking ahead, QR codes can serve as
a useful tool for our contractors in the field who typically only carry mobile
devices. The technology will provide them, our distributors and consumers with
quick and easy paperless access to installation manuals, FAQs, videos, safety
sheets, technical information and additional resources via their smart phones. The
possibilities are endless.”
CertainTeed’s free QR Reader for
the iPhone, Blackberry and Droid is available at the iPhone App Store, Droid
Market and Blackberry App World or by going towww.certainteed.com/qr.
