Carrier
Corp. announced today it is selling its North American bus air-conditioning
division. The buyer is Mobile Climate Control.
Terms
were not disclosed.
Mobile
Climate Control is a subsidiary of Ratos AB, a Sweden-based financial investment company.
Carrier, which is owned
by United Technology Corp., operates its bus business in York, Pa., where it has
about 50 workers. After the deal is finalized in about 30 days, production will
be moved from Carrier’s Athens, Ga., plant to a Mobile Climate facility.
"We're pleased that this combination with a leading supplier to the
commercial vehicle industry will enhance the growth potential of this North
American bus air-conditioning business," said Carrier President Geraud
Darnis. "The transaction is a continuation of our strategy to increase
focus on our core growth platforms."
Carrier sold its Sutrak
international bus air-conditioning division in 2010.
