The PHCC Educational Foundation will hold its "Essentials of Project
Management" course March 14-17 at the National
Conference Center
in Lansdowne, Va. According to the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling
Contractors-National Association, the four-day class has been teaching contractor
business owners and their project management team to recognize the value of
pre-planning and standardizing their project management procedures since 1996.
This
year’s program will feature expanded discussions on finding new business
opportunities in retrofit and in the energy and water conservation
markets.
“Right now there are subcontractors bidding on
every last project they can, even ones they know they cannot make a profit on,”
said course director and lead instructor Kirk Alter. “We drill into the
attendees that they must focus their efforts, put a higher value on their time
and seek out profitable work. Often those profitable jobs require pursuing
opportunities that their competitors are ignoring in conservation and retrofit
work in existing buildings.”
