The Mechanical Contractors
Association-Chicago is thinking “inside the box” when it comes to safety.
Member companies are receiving a
small, safe-shaped container featuring products designed to help ensure a
safety-minded workplace. Items inside the box include hardhat stickers, instructional
pamphlets, record-keeping forms and a vest.
“MCA Chicago
member companies continue to work with Local union 597 Chicago Pipe Fitters to
strengthen safety on the jobsite,” said MCA Chicago Executive Vice President
Stephen L. Lamb.” The latest psychological research shows that if workers
perceive their union places a strong belief in a safe workplace, the workers
are more highly motivated to work safely. Living our lives and working each day
with safe practices at our core allows us to enjoy higher productivity, produce
less waste, and ensure our costs are competitive.”
The
association will also launch a safety leadership training program this fall
with Local 597. Designed by Colorado State University and the Center for Construction
Research and Training, the course is funded by the National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health.
