Add the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association to the growing list looking to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.
The association said that members affected by the storm may ask for their 2013 national dues to be waived and apply for a $1,000 cash grant.
The waiving of state and local dues is up to those chapters, officials said.
“Many of our members in the northeast were severely impacted by this damaging storm,” said PHCC President David Dugger. “We’re hopeful that this assistance will help get them back on their feet and be ready for business as usual soon.”
The PHCC board has established a disaster fund to help members in need due to Sandy or future disasters.
“Since the superstorm occurred, PHCC members have been asking how they can help PHCC members who were impacted,” Dugger said. “This new fund will give them an option to directly assist PHCC contractors in need by providing a tax-free donation.”
This kind of assistance is common among PHCC members, Dugger added.
“PHCC is like a big family,” he said. “For example, following Hurricane Katrina, PHCC members were very generous in providing financial and in-kind support to members stricken by the hurricane. We know that compassion will continue as we help others recover from superstorm Sandy, and also build a fund that can assist in other situations in the future.”
Members in need of assistance can call (800) 533-7694. Donations to the relief fund may be sent to PHCC Disaster Fund, 180 S. Washington Street, Suite No. 100, Falls Church, VA 22046.
