To observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, employees of electrical and mechanical contracting firm Emcor Group Inc. will wear pink hardhats in October.
At special ceremonies in New Haven, Conn.; Oakland, Calif., Norristown, Pa., Phoenix; and New York City, Emcor workers will be wearing the hardhats and promoting Emcor’s “Protect yourself. Get screened today” anti-breast cancer campaign.
Company vehicles will also be painted with the slogan, and hundreds of employees at Emcor subsidiaries across the country will wear the special hats at their worksites.
“This is the fifth consecutive year that thousands of Emcor’s employees have worn Emcor pink hardhats, challenging the ‘macho’ image of the construction industry, supporting family, friends, colleagues, and clients who have been and could be affected by breast cancer,” said Emcor President and Chief Executive Officer Tony Guzzi. “At Emcor, the majority of our field employees wear a hard hat on a daily basis for personal protection, and we are proud of their commitment to wear a pink hardhat during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to help raise awareness of this disease and the importance of screening."
