Johnstone Supply is promoting its mercury thermostat recycling efforts at the HVAC market wholesaler’s 380 nationwide locations.
All Johnstone stores now highlight thermostat recycling with in-store displays and act as collection sites.
”Johnstone believes in putting effort into protecting the environment,” said Jeff Schultz, the HVAC construction company’s installation supplies product manager. “Making it easy and quick for contractors to drop off old thermostats when they visit the showroom is the most effective way to support that effort, and adding the element of fun with the challenge is even better.”
Johnstone officials added that the company is hoping to win the Big Man on Planet thermostat recycling contest sponsored by Thermostat Recycling Corp., an industry-sponsored nonprofit that promoted thermostat reclaiming.
The contest is a challenge to see how many thermostats Heating, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International member companies can collect by the end of this month. Johnstone Supply won the contest in 2013.
