A former motorcycle company official will headline the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association International’s annual conference next month.
Ken Schmidt, the former communications director for Harley Davidson, will give the opening keynote at the Feb. 25-27 event at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Fla.
“Ken Schmidt played a pivotal role in one of the most renowned turnarounds in corporate history — helping Harley-Davidson rebuild its brand — and as a result, took the company from the verge of bankruptcy to global dominance,” said Jim Warren, FMA’s senior director of member services, education and foundation. “We are very excited that he will address our audience about how to create compelling, brand-building messages.”
Schmidt started at the motorcycle maker during a time when it had a hard time selling its once-iconic bikes. By the end of the 1990s, he was a fixture on cable new and talk shows and Harley Davidson was again a success.
“Ken’s passionate message will inspire our audience with innovative ways to differentiate themselves and grow their businesses,” Warren said.
