An HVAC construction engineering group said it is disappointed in a U.S. House-passed resolution that it says discourages the development of model building codes.
The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers said the North American Energy Security and Infrastructure Act of 2015 limits the technical assistance that U.S. Department of Energy provides to ASHRAE, the International Code Council, U.S. states and others for implementation of these codes.
“ASHRAE remains hopeful that Congress will ultimately demonstrate its support for market-driven energy efficiency by enacting legislation that protects the development, adoption and implementation of private sector-led, consensus-based model building energy codes,” said ASHRAE President David Underwood.
