Emerson’s Wi-Fi HVAC market thermostat now works with Amazon’s voice-activated Echo device.
The Sensi wireless programmable thermostat is one of first such devices to work with the Echo and Alexa, Amazon’s cloud-based service, officials say.
“We’re excited to collaborate with Emerson to bring the power of far-field voice control with Amazon Echo to Sensi thermostat customers,” said Charlie Kindel, director of Amazon’s Echo and Alexa program. “Now turning up the heat on a cold day is as easy as saying ‘Alexa, set the upstairs temperature to 72 degrees.’ ”
Once the devices are linked through the Alexa app, homeowners can ask Alexa to change the temperature or control multiple thermostats.
“We’re pleased to offer our customers an additional level of ease and accessibility by working with companies like Amazon who are taking the connected home to the next level,” said Emerson Executive Vice President Bob Sharp. “Now, making smart decisions about home comfort and energy use is possible not just with the touch of a button, but also with the sound of your voice.”
