Employees from Emcor Group Inc., its subsidiary F&G Mechanical and its sprinkler division Meadowlands Fire Protection Corp. joined representatives from Newport Associates Development and Hackensack University Medical Center at Emcor’s eighth annual “Protect Yourself, Get Screened Today” campaign event held at Newport Green Park in Jersey City, New Jersey, this past September.
Attendees wore Emcor’s signature pink hard hats and assembled into the shape of a ribbon for the call-to-action event, which raised $100,000 from individual donations and contributions. The check was presented by Emcor and given to John Theurer Cancer Center’s Breast Oncology Division at the Hackensack University Medical Center.
“This is Emcor’s eighth consecutive year of spearheading the national Pink Hard Hat initiative,” said Salvatore Fichera, CEO of Emcor, F&G Mechanical and MFP. “Over the years, people have come forward to say they believe this unique way of raising awareness of the importance of breast cancer screening has had a positive impact on their own lives or that of a loved one. Many of our employees wear hard hats on a daily basis for personal protection, and we’re proud of their commitment to wear an Emcor/F&G pink hard hat in October to raise awareness for breast cancer and remind women and men to get screened.”
During the month of October, Emcor employees were joined by thousands of others wearing pink hard hats on job sites. Additionally, the company’s fleet of more than 7,000 service vehicles displayed Pink Hard Hat posters with the “Protect Yourself, Get Screened Today” campaign message.
