The U.S. Department of Energy has approved two ASHRAE certification programs under its commercial building workforce training efforts
The society’s building commissioning professional and building energy assessment professional programs have met the DOE’s Better Buildings Workforce Guidelines, ASHRAE said.
Of six programs the Energy Department has recognized for aligning with the Better Buildings project, two are ASHRAE’s, the society pointed out.
“ASHRAE certification programs provide value to built-environment professionals, employers and building owners across the globe — and embody our commitment to advancing human well-being through sustainable technology for the built environment,” said ASHRAE Certification Committee Chairman Cameron R. Labunski, P.E.. “DOE recognition of these two ASHRAE certification programs positions the employers of BCxPs and BEAPs to compete for federal, state and local government body contracts calling for the services provided by these certified professionals.”
