A woman has been named Contractor of the Year by the California chapter of the Sheet Metal and Air-Conditioning Contractors’ National Association.
Angie Simon, president of Western Allied Mechanical Inc. in Menlo Park, California, received the award at the state association’s April 4-7 annual convention in Hawaii.
The award was created in memory of Ed Banks, the former owner of Meadows Mechanical.
Simon was the first woman to serve as president of the Bay Area SMACNA chapter. She was the first woman to serve on the chapter’s board of directors from 2007 to 2011. She was inducted into the association’s College of Fellows in 2013, and currently serves as co-chairwoman its Steering Council for Women in Construction Leadership.
She will be the first female to serve as SMACNA national president in 2019.
