A nine-week strike is over for unionized sheet metal workers in Ontario's ICI sector after a deal was reached between the Sheet Metal Workers' and Roofers' Conference and the Ontario Sheet Metal Contractors' Association. Daily Commercial News reports:
Ratification votes were held across the province the week of June 29 to July 6. Votes were still being counted the morning of July 8.
The timing of a return to work was not immediately known.
The contract covers May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2022. The strike achieved a pay package increase for sheet metal workers of $4.55 over three years. Toronto’s Local 30 will retain a work week of 36 hours and siding and decking will work 37.5 hours per week.
