WILMINGTON, Del. — Denise Dignam, who has more than 35 years of experience in the chemical industry, is the new president and CEO of The Chemours Co.
Dignam, who had been interim CEO since February, is also now a member of the Chemours board of directors.
Dignam joined Chemours in 2015. She has held senior roles in the chemical industry in business and operations, sales and marketing, commercialization, and supply chain. Prior to being named interim CEO, she had been president of the Chemours Titanium Technologies (TT) division and president of the Advanced Performance Materials (APM) division, businesses that accounted for more than 68% of the company’s net sales in 2023, according to a Chemours press release.
“I am excited and honored to take on the role of president and CEO,” Dignam said. “Chemours is defined by its leading chemistries, the customer applications that our chemistries enable, our manufacturing capabilities, and as importantly, our people and core values. Looking ahead I will be focused on strengthening our portfolio with high-value and emerging growth opportunities, and ensuring we are operating as efficiently, effectively, and safely as possible. I am committed to continuing to lead with transparency as we do the hard work required to keep building our businesses for today and into the future.”
“Denise has the full support of the board, and we are pleased to have an experienced and capable executive who is so highly regarded inside and outside Chemours for her track record leading the APM and TT business segments, “ said board chairwoman Dawn Farrell. “Denise is a high-caliber leader who has the experience and capability to build value for shareholders while upholding our core values and serving our valued customers.”
Matthew S. Abbott, interim CFO, will continue in that role while Chemours searches for a permanent CFO, and Diane I. Picho, vice president of human resources and chief of staff for the Titanium Technologies division, will serve as interim president for Titanium Technologies while Chemours conducts a comprehensive search for a permanent segment president, the press release said.
