SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The Building Performance Institute (BPI), a building performance-credentialing, quality-assurance, and standards-setting organization, has hired Gilbert Yanez as its director of finance.

Yanez has 18 years of experience in financial management at nonprofits. He most recently served as vice president of finance for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and as controller for the Symphony Society of San Antonio.

He previously held various positions at the YMCA of Greater San Antonio. At the YMCA, he specialized in full-cycle accounting, supervised all accounting functions, managed reconciliations, performed budget analyses, and coordinated annual audits.

“Gilbert Yanez’s depth of experience is incredibly valuable to BPI,” said Larry Zarker, the CEO of BPI, in a press release. “We are proud to bring him on board, and we look forward to continuing our 31-year tradition of serving stakeholders and the industry with his help.”

Yanez holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio and is a certified public accountant candidate. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing pickleball and disc golf, and he maintains an active routine of cardiovascular and strength training, the press release said.
