Research Products Corp (RPC), the parent company of AprilAire, has just announced it has acquired EWC Controls, a company best known for its role in the zoning sector.

“(RPC) is making a strategic acquisition to grow its position in the premium indoor air quality market by acquiring EWC Controls, a leader in HVAC zone control design and solutions,” a press release from the company states. “The acquisition positions RPC to take the No. 1 position in zoning.”

EWC, located in New Jersey, is a family-owned business that started in 1961. Prior to becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of RPC, EWC Controls was on its third generation of family ownership.

“Our goal is to collaborate closely with our customers in order to exceed their expectations,” the release stated. “Our commitment is to provide exceptional service with the highest quality products, and our mission is our customers’ success. In order to provide this level of support, we rely on an exceptional cast of employees.”

RPC stated it will retain all EWC employees and the business will continue to operate from its current location in New Jersey. The company will now also do business under a new name: EWC Controls LLC.

Apart from the name change, customers shouldn’t notice any changes, and EWC will continue to support contractors and distribution with “the best service, quality, and technical expertise in the industry.”

“Zoning is a key component to delivering healthy air to every home,” the release stated. “We are excited to add the EWC lineup of zoning to our portfolio of healthy air products.”

Headquartered in Madison, Wis., since 1938, RPC has been designing and manufacturing healthy air solutions for all types of residential and commercial environments.

“We have an unparalleled reputation as the brand of choice among tens of thousands of professional contractors and make a Healthy Air difference in the lives of the millions of people who rely on our products every day,” the company concluded.
