PALO ALTO, Calif — Google has released the latest model of its Nest Learning Thermostat.
The fourth-generation Nest Learning Thermostat has features that can help maximize energy savings, and can not only regulate the indoor temperature but also call for fresh air for improved IAQ and monitor an HVAC system to help catch issues early, a press release from the company said.
The new Nest Learning Thermostat comes with the second-generation Nest Temperature Sensor to help manage hot and cold spots around the home. The new thermostat, the company said, uses artificial intelligence (AI) to more quickly and accurately develop a personalized temperature schedule.
Its Smart Schedule technology learns which temperatures thermostat users choose most often, and also takes note of changes in users' behavior, such as when they go to bed earlier or wake up later, the press release said. Based on its learning, the thermostat can either make changes automatically, with notifications to its users, or suggest them so they can be accepted or rejected.
A new Nest Learning Thermostat , the company said, will also learn how the home in which its installed reacts to outdoor weather conditions, and make changes to its settings accordingly. For example, the press release said, if a home will heat up on its own on a sunny winter day, the thermostat can pause the heating.
The latest Nest Learning Thermostat is Energy Star-certified and has a display that's 60% larger than that of the previous model.
