DAVIDSON, N.C. — Oxbox, a Trane Technologies brand that offers residential and light commercial HVAC systems, has launched a new line of split-system products for use with the refrigerant R-454B.

With the U.S. government requiring all new residential HVAC systems to use lower-GWP refrigerants starting in January, and the HVAC industry shifting toward more sustainable practices, Oxbox’s new line represents a crucial step in the company’s efforts to protect the climate and reduce HFC emissions, a press release from Oxbox said. A refrigerant detection sensor (RDS) and mitigation control board (MCB) will be provided with every air handler and coil in the new line.

“Our new split system R-454B refrigerant product line utilizes low-GWP refrigerant to promote sustainability,” said Cristian Daily, senior product manager at Oxbox. “We’re proud to offer products that align with the industry’s transition toward more conscious solutions and our company’s commitment to environmental responsibility.”

The new Oxbox split-system product line offers air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, and coils. Features in the new line include:

• Air conditioners – Oxbox units are available in 13.4 SEER2 and 14.3 SEER2, and up to 16 SEER2 performance with select indoor units. They have an all-aluminum microchannel design with hydrophilic coating, which allows for high fin efficiency, improved reliability against corrosion resistance, and better fin protection, the company said.

• Heat pumps – Oxbox heat pumps are available in 14.3 SEER2, and up to 15.2 SEER2 performance with select indoor units. They feature coils with a hydrophilic coating to improve corrosion resistance, the company said.

• Air handlers – Designed with multiple installation configurations to give homeowners a variety of options to fit existing spaces. Multi-positional air handlers from Oxbox can hit up to 16 SEER2 with select combinations, and are available with either a permanent split capacitor (PSC) or an electronically commutated (ECM) motor. The R-454B refrigerant sensor is factory-installed.

Wall-mounted air handlers can hit up to 15.2 SEER2 with select combinations, and have a factory-installed R-454B refrigerant sensor.

• Coils – Oxbox multi-positional and upflow/downflow coils have foil-faced thermal insulation that makes cleaning simple, the company said. Each coil comes with a leak-mitigation kit.

The warranty for all new R-454B products will stay the same, including one-year unit replacement, a 10-year warranty on parts with product registration, and a 10-year compressor replacement.
