HOLLYWOOD, Florida — To recognize the sacrifices made by Veterans and their families, Air Pros USA honored four Veterans in four cities by surprising them with new air conditioning units. The public nominated deserving recipients through Air Pros USA’s 5th Annual Veterans Day Giveaway and employees helped select the winners. After a careful vetting process, the company worked with local partners to install brand new HVAC units free of charge for Veterans in LaGrange, Georgia; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Hollywood, Florida and Mobile, Alabama.
“I started this giveaway five years ago because I have always had a deep appreciation for the service and sacrifices of all our Veterans and their families,” said Anthony Perera, Founder of Air Pros USA. “This year, I am honored to present all our winners with new A/C units to show our appreciation for all they have done for our community and our country.”
Air Pros USA’s 5th Annual Veterans Day Giveaway awarded four Veterans:
Anthony Guadamuz is a United States Marine Corps Veteran from Miramar, Florida. He served from June 2008 as a 0352 TOW gunner until his honorable discharge in December 2013. He did two deployments as a volunteer for Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2009 in Abar, Iraq. Anthony was relying on plug-in fans to keep his home cool and his energy bill had become increasingly expensive.
Ryan Utsler is a former U.S. Army Staff Sergeant with six years of distinguished service from Colorado Springs, Colorado. He served in multiple challenging roles in both Alaska and Colorado, ensuring the mission-readiness of his platoon's vehicles. His expertise was crucial to maintaining operational efficiency, especially in the harsh Alaskan environment. He is the recipient of a brigade coin and an Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM) for his bravery and skill. At Fort Carson, Colorado, he managed the Schools/Defense Travel System and Government Travel Card (GTC) program.
Rovecchia Rivers is an Alabama Army National Guard Veteran from Theodore, Alabama. Having served in the Alabama Army National Guard from 2006 to 2014, Rivers has been awarded the Army commendation award for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn with the 2101st Transportation Company of Demopolis, AL. There Rivers maintained vital air conditioning and refrigeration systems on base. Despite Rivers’ adept ability to repair a/c units, there had been significant challenges in maintaining the home's aging 18-year-old system.
Troy Johnson is a highly decorated U.S. Navy and Army Veteran, who served his country across multiple assignments and locations. His military career began with service in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978 as an OSINT military intelligence specialist stationed in Germany. He continued his service with the U.S. Navy from 1980 until 1998, where he worked as a Yeoman on assignments that took him from the USS Nimitz and USS Bailey to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, and later to recruiting duties in Macon, Georgia and to Mississippi for the new USS Ramage Station. His career ended with a medical discharge after earning multiple commendations, including three Navy Achievement Medals, a Navy Commendation Medal, an Expert Rifle Medal, and the Berlin Occupation Medal. His 29-year-old air conditioning was in disrepair.
