FREMONT, Calif. - Zensys announced that its Z-Wave technology has been named the winner in the wireless category of theWall Street Journal's2006 Technology Innovation Awards.

"It is truly an honor to be selected by the judges of the Wall Street Journal's Technology Innovation Awards as the most innovative wireless company in the world," said Tony Shakib, CEO of Zensys. "While wireless home control technologies have been around for some time, Z-Wave is the first technology to bring affordable, reliable, and easy-to-use wireless home control to the everyday consumer."

The company's Z-Wave technology provides real-time home monitoring and energy conservation by controlling a wide array of home devices including HVAC, lighting, appliances, entertainment, and access and security systems.

The Wall Street Journal initially screened more than 600 applications from two dozen countries. The judges then considered 121 of the entries, selecting 12 category winners and 37 runners-up. In selecting the winners, judges considered whether the technology represented a breakthrough from conventional methods, rather than just an incremental improvement.

Winners will be honored at an awards dinner on Oct. 17, 2006 at the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, Calif. The dinner is part of Dow Jones VentureWire's Emerging Ventures conference.
