A taste of things to come? On May 9,Pennsylvanians were asked to reduce electricity use to prevent the need for controlled power interruptions or “rolling blackouts.” Lt. Gov. Mark Schweiker stated, “This unusual spring heat wave has placed a strain on the power distribution system in the Mid-Atlantic states.” The Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland power pool implemented a 5% voltage reduction to ease pressure on the distribution system.
