Modeled after ISO 9000, SA 8000 was developed to help resolve inconsistencies among individual workplace codes of conduct and to help equalize and improve working conditions across all regions and cultures.
The standard was designed to help employers implement more effective management systems while decreasing costs and inefficiencies associated with monitoring individual social codes.
