BOXBOROUGH, MA - ITS Intertek Services announced that it has received accreditation to audit and certify companies to SA 8000, the international social accountability standard.

The company was accredited by the Council on Economic Priorities Accreditation Agency (CEPAA), a U.S. organization established in 1997 to drive the improvement and standardization of labor conditions throughout the world.

Modeled after ISO 9000, SA 8000 was developed to help resolve inconsistencies among individual workplace codes of conduct and to help equalize and improve working conditions across all regions and cultures.

The standard was designed to help employers implement more effective management systems while decreasing costs and inefficiencies associated with monitoring individual social codes.
