The PREDATIR, a hand-held, battery-operated infrared refrigerant leak detector, is the first new leak detector technology in over 30 years, claims the company. Featuring long sensor life ( up to 7 years) that does not degrade with use, the unit will not ignite flammable gases — sample gases never come in contact with the detector’s sensor, says the company. It detects leaks less than 1¼10 oz/year with a response time of approximately 1 sec, the company says. Notification of a leak is provided both audibly and visibly. The visual indicator is a series of LEDs (green-amber-red) that light progressively in proportion to the size of the leak.
