The TT300 compact centrifugal compressor uses magnetic bearings and a variable-speed drive to deliver better IPLV efficiencies than conventional, oil-lubricated reciprocating, scroll, and screw compressors, states the company. It has a nominal 60- to 90-tons of refrigeration capacity range. The one main moving part (rotor shaft and impellers) is levitated during rotation by a digitally controlled magnetic bearing system. Position sensors at each magnetic bearing provide real-time feedback to the bearing control system, ensuring centered rotation, the company says. The onboard digital controller manages compressor operation and provides external control and Web-enabled monitoring of performance and reliability through an RS-485 connection. The compressor is made from aircraft-grade aluminum castings and has high-strength thermoplastic electronics enclosures.
