ALBANY, NY — The third annual “Home Performance Strategies – New York 2002 Conference” will be held May 20-21, 2002, at the Wyndham Syracuse Hotel in East Syracuse, NY. The conference highlights energy-efficient technologies, as well as sustainable design and affordable housing.

Attendees of the event will include hvac contractors, insulation contractors, builders, architects, code officials, building inspectors, public health officials, and other professionals. Training, hands-on opportunities, educational sessions, and a trade show are all a part of the conference, which is sponsored by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Other supporters include the Conservation Services Group (CSG), the Affordable Comfort® Inc., and the U.S. Environ-mental Protection Agency (EPA).

Seminars include presentations on controlling moisture, mold, and mildew; combustion safety strategies; information on solving thermal defects; and the latest in hvac system testing, repair, and replacement.

Steve Thomas, host of “This Old House” and a spokesperson for NYSERDA, will meet with attendees and present awards at a banquet on May 20. Thomas will also lead a demonstration of home performance testing at a home in Syracuse on the same day.
