Ultra*Duct™ Gold is a rigid board for ductwork. It now has a new airstream facing that significantly decreases the amount of dust created in the fabrication process, compared to other standard duct boards, states the company. It is available in 1- and 1-1/2-in. thicknesses and is made of resin-bonded glass fibers with a reinforced foil laminate air barrier vapor retarder facing applied to the outside surface and a fiberglass textile mat bonded to the airstream surface. It can handle up to 250 degrees F (121 degrees C) air temperatures, up to 5,000-fpm air velocities, and maximum internal pressures of ±2-in. (51mm) water gauge. According to the manufacturer, it is resistant to mold and bacteria, contains an EPA-registered antimicrobial, and its surface can be cleaned with duct cleaning equipment.
