These watertube boilers are designed to deliver full steam output from a cold start-up within five minutes. Floating headers allow this to occur, without creating thermal shock to the boiler’s water tubes and enclosure. These headers enable the water tubes to be short and straight, thus allowing the boiler to be half the size of a firetube boiler of equal power, claims the company. The low water content water tubes’ surface serration design contributes greatly to the boiler’s 85 percent fuel-to-steam efficiency, the company says.
