Named Contractor of the Year in 1997, Cramer's involvement in SMACNA spans close to 30 years and includes service on various committees. He is co-chairman of the SMACNA/SMWIA Best Practices Task Force and a member of the SMACNA/SMWIA Best Practices Market Expansion Task Force. A trustee to the Employees' Pension Plan Trust, Cramer is also the chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee.
Locally, Cramer serves as the chapter vice president for the Michigan Chapter of SMACNA and is president of the Flint Area Association of Sheet Metal Contractors. He is chairman of the Flint Area Labor Committee.
A registered professional engineer, Cramer first entered the sheet metal industry in 1957 for a summer job and made it his career. His father Dee Cramer, founder of Dee Cramer Inc., served as SMACNA president from 1954 to 1955. Continuing in the family tradition, Cramer's two sons Richard II and Matthew are also in the business and serve on SMACNA committees.
