ATLANTA - To streamline its standards development process, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) is now publishing supplements containing all recent addenda to code-intended standards.

These supplements combine into one all of the addenda that have been approved for each standard since their last publication in 2004.

"This makes the effort to keep up with our documents much easier for all users," said Richard Hermans, P.E., chair of ASHRAE's Standards Committee. "We intend to continue to publish our standards on a predictable schedule so there never is any doubt about their contents."

In the past, addenda for code-intended standards on continuous maintenance were posted individually on www.ashrae.org after being approved by the board of directors for publication. Now, board-approved addenda are being published in a supplement for each standard. The supplements will be published on a regular schedule halfway between the three year publication of each standard. The addenda also will be incorporated into each standard when it is reissued after its last publication.

Supplements are available for the following code-intended standards on continuous maintenance. These are:

  • Addendum b to Standard 15, Safety Standard for Refrigeration Systems;

  • Addenda a, b, c, e, f, k, n, o, p, q, r, s and u to Standard 34, Designation and Safety Classification of Refrigerants;

  • Addendum a to Standard 52.2, Method of Testing General Ventilation Air Cleaning Devices for Removal Efficiency by Particle Size;

  • Addenda a, b, c, d and g to Standard 62.1, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality;

  • Addendum g to Standard 62.2, Ventilation and Acceptable Indoor Air Quality in Low-Rise Residential Buildings;

  • Addenda a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, r, s, t, u, v, x and ak Standard 90.1, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings;

  • Addendum a, b, f, g, h and i Standard 90.2, Energy Efficient Design of Low-Rise Residential Buildings.
