Addendum 62g contains requirements for separating smoking and nonsmoking spaces to maintain the status of nonsmoking spaces. The addendum exempts some building types from selected requirements, based on concerns that the requirements are unworkable in these situations, according to committee chair David Butler, P.E.
Addendum 62n revises the standard’s ventilation rate procedure used to determine design ventilation rates. According to ASHRAE, the revision will make it easier for designers to determine design ventilation rates and reduce the potential for overventilation in some densely occupied spaces. The addendum bases ventilation requirements on the number of people a space is expected to hold, as well as the space’s floor area.
Other addenda approved for publication are Addendum 62h, which describes the requirements of the indoor air quality (IAQ) procedure in mandatory and enforceable language and is intended to replace Section 6.2 in the current standard. Addendum 62x revises the humidity control requirements contained in Section 5.10, as well as clarifying the standard’s existing recommendations and requirements to ensure that the building envelope does not contribute to IAQ problems.
Addendum 62ae adds definitions of the terms cognizant authority and industrial space, as well as updates and corrects a number of other small items in the standard.
