Grunau will install the HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection for the 70,000-square-foot addition to the Prairie School's H.F. Johnson Field House.
Grunau also will provide services for the supporting space at the field house including locker rooms, offices, a concession area, and atrium. The project is expected to be completed in September 2005.
"We are pleased the Prairie School chose the Grunau Company team to assist in this latest addition," said Paul Grunau, Grunau Company's president and CEO. "We believe that our years of experience with additions to existing buildings will help them achieve their goal of a state-of-the-art athletic facility."
The school, located near Racine, Wis., was originally built in 1965, and the latest addition doubles the size of the existing field house. The new building will feature an elevated four-lane indoor running track, basketball courts, a weight room, and a dance studio/multipurpose room. The addition's unique design features two barrel-shaped roofs and will be a focal point of the campus. A two-story atrium will link the existing field house with the addition.
