Grunau will design and install the HVAC systems and install the plumbing systems for Roundy's new 1 million-square-foot distribution center located in Oconomowoc, Wis.
Construction of the building began in May, three months before Grunau was hired. The building is expected to be completed in January 2005.
"The project is challenging because of the short preparation time Grunau had and the overall fast pace of the job," said Jeff Kuhnke, project manager. "We were asked to join the team because the general contractor knew that we could effectively respond to the quick nature and large size of the project."
Roundy's is one of the Midwest's largest food wholesalers and retailers, supplying over 800 stores in 14 states and operating 120 grocery stores in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
The Grunau Co. designs, installs, and services mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and specialized electrical systems. Grunau Metals, a separate division of the company, offers specialty metal fabrication services. Grunau has offices in Wisconsin, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. The company employs 500 people and is headquartered in Oak Creek, Wis.
