COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Officials from the Texas A&M veterinary school here along with Houston businessman Eric Voss recently introduced Max, a border collie-lab mix, which they say is the state's first mold-sniffing dog.

Max is owned by Voss, a graduate of Texas A&M, who operates the Allergy and Health Store in Houston.

Max was trained at the Florida Canine Academy, which teaches dogs to detect such things as explosives, narcotics, and now mold. Dogs like Max are also in action in California and Florida.
