Maximum Performance Group, recently acquired by Electric City, is a provider of energy and asset management products and services. The company manufactures and markets its eMAC line of controllers for HVAC and lighting applications and its Maximum Performance Software for coordination and control of central cooling plants.
The eMAC and uMAC systems provide end users with a monitoring and control system designed to reduce energy consumption and HVAC maintenance visits. The eMAC system directly measures HVAC system performance points and optimizes cooling and heating system operation. The uMAC operates and monitors lighting and refrigeration systems. Both technologies broadcast operating conditions wirelessly to a non-proprietary Web-based user interface. According to the company, customers enjoy typical energy savings exceeding 25 percent of their current HVAC and lighting system consumption.
NYSERDA, LIPA, and NSTAR have extended their custom incentive programs to include both the eMAC and uMAC technologies. Incentive levels are site specific and determined by the achieved energy and demand reductions. These incentive levels typically contribute 20 to 30 percent of total project implementation costs.
"Utility sponsored incentive programs provide additional capital that allows our customers to accelerate the purchase and installation of our lighting and air conditioning energy saving technologies," stated Len Pisano, president of MPG/COO of Electric City. "These programs take an existing payback period of one to two years and reduce that period to a matter of months, thereby greatly accelerating our ability to sell scalable orders to our repeat and new customers. The programs also provide measurement and verification of performance for the customer, which validates the return on their investment."
