ROCKVILLE, Md. — The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) has announced that its 2004 convention will be held at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, February 29 to March 4.

According to the association, the convention will focus on education and networking. To accomplish these goals, the convention will feature a number of major speakers, including:

  • Mayor Rudy Giuliani — Monday morning opening session speaker;

  • Senator Bob Dole — Tuesday morning general session speaker;

  • Frank Abagnale, whose life inspired “Catch Me if You Can,” Steven Spielberg's 2002 movie — closing session speaker;

  • Retired General (and former Drug Czar) Barry R. McCaffrey — “Drugs, Terrorism, and Crime”;

  • NBC foreign correspondent Dr. Bob Arnot — “The New Journalism: My Life as an Embedded Reporter”;

  • Presidential historian Michael Beschloss — “Eavesdropping on the President: Secret White House Tapes”; and

  • Irish tenor Dr. Ronan Tynan — spouse program speaker.

    The program also includes a number of workshops. In addition to presenting various management and leadership topics, the sessions will cover such industry-specific issues as equipment pre-purchasing and Internet auctions, a 2004 construction industry forecast, the latest insurance issues, and a report on the future of the mechanical contracting industry.
