Previous versions of this model line came standard with a braze plate heat exchanger because it provides a lighter unit with higher efficiency. However, braze plate heat exchangers cannot be used in open-loop applications, so the company released this coaxial version in response to feedback from installers and distributors.

The McElroy Pit Bull 14 butt fusion machine is designed to fuse 1-inch IPS to 4-inch DIPS (32-110mm) high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe that is commonly used on geothermal well installations.

As customer interest in geothermal has increased, numerous HVAC contractors have begun offering GHPs as a way to expand their businesses and give their customers another energy-efficient HVAC option. But, while many of these contractors have undergone extensive training and took the time to properly design and install their GHP systems, others may not have been so careful. 

Fortunately, more information is now available to help contractors avoid making costly mistakes when designing or installing GHP systems.
