While the importance of building energy performance metrics to reduce energy use is accepted worldwide, there is no single generally accepted definition of that metric. Under a new initiative, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) is working to define an energy use metric to move the building industry toward producing net zero energy buildings by 2030.
Building on a long-established working relationship, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) signed an updated memorandum of understanding, committing to further improve the efficient use of energy.
Perspectives on design styles and experiences from around the world were shared by nearly 2,000 built environment industry professionals at the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ (ASHRAE) 2011 Annual Conference.
Lynn G. Bellenger, president of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and Bill Neudorfer, president of the National Environmental Balancing Bureau, have distributed a letter to their respective association’s members informing them that ASHRAE and NEBB are discussing a possible merger of the two associations.
ATLANTA - The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has published its first eBook for use on the Apple iPad. The third and latest edition of ASHRAE
Congratulations to Bernard Nagengast, an engineering consultant and industry historian who found the oldest NEWS issue among our readers. His oldest issue was dated Nov. 30, 1926. The very first issue of the magazine was published in September of that same year.
Three years ago, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) set out to achieve new efficiency goals for Standard 90.1. The association announced at its 2011 winter conference in January that it had been successful. It now attains site energy savings of 32.6 percent and energy cost savings of 30.1 percent without plug loads.
The 10 winners of the 2011 AHR Expo Innovation Awards represent some of the most innovative new products in the HVACR industry, according to the judges, members of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), who evaluated submissions based on innovation, application, value to the user, and market impact.
Highlighting the importance of finding balance in design, this year’s American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ (ASHRAE) Winter Conference will focus on zero-energy design and greening the industry. The program will include paper-related sessions, application-oriented, non-paper seminars, and open discussion forums.
The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) recently published the third edition of GreenGuide: The Design, Construction and Operation of Sustainable Buildings. The updated book includes information on building information modeling (BIM); strategies for greening existing buildings; and more.
