United States shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps totaled 517,864 units in August 2011, up 18 percent from 439,551 units shipped in August 2010, according to Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) shipment data.

The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) reported that, during the second quarter of 2011, ductless split systems shipments showed the highest product sector gain, increasing by 68 percent.

The Heating, Airconditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International’s (HARDI’s) monthly Targeted and Regional Economic News for Distribution Strategies (TRENDS) Report showed an average growth for November 2010 of more than 20 percent versus November 2009.
