The Regional Standards Enforcement Working Group will begin meeting this month with the goal of producing a satisfactory enforcement solution by Oct. 31.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) intends to establish a rulemaking working group under the Appliance Standards and Rulemaking Federal Advisory Committee (ASRAC) to negotiate proposed regional energy efficiency standards. Two HVAC professionals have been announced as participants in this group.
Contractor will not be able to conduct business as usual — at least not without carefully considering regional efficiencies, system matches, high-efficiency motors, impending cost increases, and the penalties associated with the new standards.
Last summer in the pages of this magazine’s sister publication, The NEWS, an editorial titled “Time to Throw in the Towel on Regional Standards” was written.
The court’s order ends the lawsuit and represents a great victory for the industry organizations that were involved in developing the final settlement agreement.
