EcoFactor®, a leader in cloud-based home energy services, has been awarded a United States patent (No. 8,556,188) for the use of geolocation data from smartphones and other mobile devices to optimize home energy management services.

Honeywell has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Nest Labs Inc., manufacturer of the Nest Learning Thermostat, in the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. The lawsuit alleges infringement of seven Honeywell patents related to its thermostat technology.
