There is so much talk these days about new refrigeration technologies and new refrigerants that it is sometimes difficult for contractors to sort out what’s theoretical and what’s actually up and running in the field. Here’s a snapshot of some of the latest refrigerants being utilized across various projects.

Tecumseh Products Co. officials announced that the company is expanding operations at its facility in Verona, Miss., to meet increased demand for its products. The expansion represents a multi-million dollar investment for Tecumseh, retaining 350 jobs at the facility and creating up to 150 new jobs over the next five years.

Krack Corp. announced that it has sold the assets of its Krack industrial refrigeration business to SGS Refrigeration Inc. Terms of the sale were not disclosed. Krack retains ownership of its commercial business.

Johnson Controls raises prices.

Johnson Controls has announced a price increase of 3 percent on Frick brand industrial refrigeration products due to increased material costs. Products covered include compressor packages, vessels, controls, evaporators, evaporative condensers, heat exchangers, and hygienic air handling units.

Already being adopted by OEMs, Tecumseh is extending the availability of its next generation AE² compressors and condensing units through its network of authorized wholesalers.
