Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. LLC celebrated the opening of its new Green Energy Facility in Freetown, Massachusetts. The facility will convert inedible food from its Stop & Shop New England stores into energy that will help power the company’s distribution center in Freetown.

More than 2.5 million Americans work in the clean energy sector across all 50 states, according to a new analysis unveiled by the national nonpartisan business group Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2).

A 17-state bipartisan coalition called the Governors’ Accord for a New Energy Future has been announced. It represents an effort by these states to develop and implement clean energy policies and initiatives that expand clean energy sources, modernize energy infrastructure, and build a clean energy economy.

Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) Interim CEO Stephen Pike has announced $250,000 in funding for five early-stage clean energy companies. Under MassCEC’s new AccelerateMass program, the funds will help the companies develop new technologies and business plans and attract additional sources of funding.
