The EnOcean Alliance announced the availability of a new line of energy harvesting wireless modules communicating on the 902 MHz band for the North American market. The line increases effective radio frequency range, enhances resistance to interference, and simplifies product development due to shorter antenna lengths.
The wireless sensor network market, led by ZigBee, grew ten-fold from 2007 to 2010 and exceeded 45 million annual shipments in 2011, according to ABI Research. Strong growth is expected for 2012 and beyond, said Peter Cooney, wireless connectivity practice director for the firm.
